What to prepare before asking for a groundwork quote
A useful groundwork enquiry explains both what you want to build and what is already on the site. You do not need every answer before getting in touch, but a few details help Marc understand the job.
Start with the proposed work
Describe the project in plain language and include any drawings you already have. Say whether they are early ideas or the version intended for construction. Approximate dimensions can help with an initial conversation, but label them as approximate rather than treating them as checked site measurements.
Explain access
Think about the route between the road and the working area. Mention narrow gates, steps, shared drives and anything that could restrict deliveries or removal of excavated material. Include any times when access is limited. These details are useful even before a site visit.
Describe the existing ground
Let Marc know about slopes, old foundations, hardstanding, visible drains or areas where water collects. Share any records you already hold about underground services. Do not dig or disturb services to gather information for a quote.
Make the boundaries of the job clear
Say which parts you want included and who is responsible for any design, approvals or work that follows. Ask for unclear items to be identified in the quote so you can compare proposals on the same basis.
Bring the information together
A short description, site location, drawings if available and your preferred timing make a good starting point. Send these details through the quote form, then discuss the next steps with Marc.
